Stellar Volunteers Honored

Updated: Nov 9, 2022

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the American Red Cross, making up 90% of our workforce. The work of the Red Cross would not be possible without our dedicated, talented and caring volunteers.

These adjectives were used to describe the Volunteer Award recipients.

On Monday, November 7, we honored nearly 50 volunteers and organizations in 13 award categories at the 2nd Annual Nebraska-Iowa Region Volunteer Recognition and Awards Celebration.

The virtual ceremony recognized volunteers across all departments and from all six of our region’s chapters. These honorees are leaders, setting the bar and providing an example for others.

Additionally, we recognized those who deployed to disasters last year and honored volunteers who reached milestone hours worked marks, including Bill Hendrickson who was recognized for eclipsing 10,000 hours served.

Nearly 100 people logged into the ceremony and dozens more watched at eight watch parties held around our region.

Volunteers and staff gathered at several locations around the region to watch the virtual celebration together.
