Meet Tiffany Drieling. She is a vital component of our volunteer recruitment team. Her work ensures that our volunteers are placed in fulfilling roles that help meet our service goals.
Q: Could you explain what your title means and take us through your workday, or what projects you work on?
A: My title is volunteer recruitment representative. I recruit volunteers across Nebraska and Iowa, with my focus areas being biomedical services and service to the Armed Forces. I work on a variety of recruitment projects on a daily basis, which consist of direct contact with potential volunteers, posting volunteer needs on social media platforms, outreach to community agencies, attending recruitment events, creating recruitment materials, maintaining volunteer services recruitment tools page and attending collaboration meetings to name a few. Â

Q: How long have you been with the Red Cross? Is this your first position with the Red Cross? If not, what was it?
A: I have been with the Red Cross for three years. This is my first position with the Red Cross.
Â
Q: What do you like about your work?
A: I enjoy being allowed to be innovative in my current role, being given the opportunity to explore and try new recruitment tactics. I also enjoy the abundance of training opportunities available.
Â
Q: What do you like to listen to during the workday?
A: I prefer quiet with as little distraction as possible.
Q: How do you spend your time when you aren’t working?
A: Outside of work I spend most of my time with my family, watching my daughter play volleyball, basketball, softball and track. I love spending time outdoors going to the various state parks close to where I live to camp, fish, hike and relax. Â
Â
Q: What has most surprised you while working for the Red Cross?
A: The number of opportunities there are to be involved in all the departments within the organization. I think it is a great way for all of us to collaborate and work together towards one common goal. Â
Â
Q: What is a Red Cross moment that sticks with you?
A: The disaster response operation for the April 26 tornado last year (2024). I was in awe of the number of people that stepped up to help and volunteer their time for months to help families suffering from tremendous losses. It really showed me how supportive local communities are when disasters happen.Â
